The UN have organized 16 drop off points to help the victims of the earthquake that killed over 212,000 people and left around 1 million homeless. An angry crowd stood waiting for the relief. One lady kept shouting “we need food,” others put there fingers to their mouths at the drop-off site close to the town hall in the Port-au-Prince suburb of Petionville.

The scam was discovered on Monday as the United Nations said that some hospitals were charging patients for medicines provided for free by the relief effort. The UN agency has set up the distribution points across the city, handing out 25-kilogram (55-pound) sacks of rice intended to feed a family for two weeks. The distribution is expected to restart today.

The 747-8 had a “taxi test” on Saturday, and went successfully. Mo Yahyavi, 747 program vice president and general manager said that “the airplane performed well.” He also said that “based on early indictations, the airplane is ready to fly.”

The new 747-8 Freighter can carry up to 154 tons more than the 747-400, which is a massive 16 percent increase. It also features new redesigned wings, high-efficiency Genx 2B engines, and advanced noise reducing characteristics according to the Boeing website.

Bulldozers had to be used after a record of 3ft of snow fell in many places. People struggled to get to work, hundreds of emergency personnel tried to clear roads of snow that kept vehicles, trains and planes simply stranded. Washington DC was hit with one of the worst blizzards in its entire history.

The sad news came in that at least two people were killed as much of the east coast was buried, President Obama referred to the conditions as “snowmageddon”. Roofs collapsed under the weight of the snow including at a firehouse in northern Virginia. This is the second massive storm to hit the region this winter after a December storm dumped some two feet of snow in the area.

MP’s in the House of Commons are already exempt from charges of defamation, but it could be said that there is a case for this since it allows independent thought when making laws and of course, free speech. However many will feel that the three Labour MP’s concerned, David Chaytor, Jim Devine and Elliot Morley are trying to use their status and taking advantage of their ranks.

They are claiming that the 1689 Bill of Rights should excuse them from any prosecution of fraud, as they allege that would be hindering the workings of Parliament. It has been noted that using this law on parliamentary privilege has not been tried before, so it will be if nothing else, intriguing for the lawyers involved. The majority of the British public though will be furious that they may be able to hide behind this loophole and will believe they should be tried on the same level as anybody else.
