Galaxy S III could have a design only 7mm thick
Following our look at the release saga surrounding the Galaxy S III a few days ago we told how we would bring further developments as we heard them. The most recent release rumor we had heard suggested April as a possible launch month but a new report today cites May as the big month that many are waiting for.
The Galaxy S III is rumored to feature a Super AMOLED Plus HD display, quad-core processor, 4G LTE connectivity, and 2GB of RAM but the new report comes up with plenty of new information including operating system, design and more. Zach Epstein of BGR brings us this latest information sourced from a report on Electronic Times News in South Korea today (Monday). One of the most interesting new snippets of information is the slimness of design, something we had not heard any mention of before.
Of course we would expect the Galaxy S III to be slim, after all the Galaxy S II is only 8.49 millimeters thick so Samsung are hardly likely to make a newer phone thicker. However if the report is accurate the Galaxy S III will be only 7 millimeters thick, that’s not just slim, that’s ultrathin! Other things mentioned in the new report are an 8-megapixel rear-camera, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter and the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system so all-in-all it’s sounding very tempting if this latest is to be believed.
As far as the release date is concerned the ‘unnamed sources’ to Electronic Times News tells how the phone will hit the deck in May 2012. We also recently told about rumors regarding waterproofing for the Apple iPhone 5 and we now hear that this could feature on the Galaxy S III as well. Today’s iPhone tells how not only Apple but also Samsung could be using the new Liquipel coating for the next iPhone and Galaxy S III respectively so that’s another rumor to add to the already packed mill.
What are your thoughts on a Galaxy S III with LTE connectivity managing to have such a thin design? Would you like the S III to be waterproof? Let us know with your comments.
