Super Bowl 2012 Finalized: Patriots vs Giants
Following wins at the weekend by the New York Giants and the New England Patriots the match-up for Super Bowl 2012 is now finalized. It will be a replay of a memorable Super Bowl in 2008 and let’s hope this year’s Giants vs. Patriots game will be just as outstanding when it takes place at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sunday February 5.
A touchdown from the Patriots’ Tom Brady led to their defeat of the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 at Gillette Stadium, ensuring a seventh Super Bowl trip for the Patriots. The AFC Championship game saw quarterback Brady take a one-yard dive into the end zone to seal the victory. If the New England Patriots lift the Vince Lombardi trophy again it will be their fourth time.
The Giants took on the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park for the NFC Championship and the New Yorker’s won 20-17 to give them a place in Super Bowl XLVI. An overtime field goal from Lawrence Tynes sealed the deal and it was the second time he’d kicked a game-winner in an NFC Championship game after also kicking the winning goal four years ago against Green Bay.
When the Giants and Patriots met in Super Bowl 2008 it was the New York Giants that won the game even though the Patriots were the favorites. It seems that the favorites for Super Bowl 2012 are the Patriots again, favored 3.5 points over the Giants at this early stage. The kick off time for this year’s Super Bowl is 6:30 pm EST or 5:30 CST and it will be broadcast on NBC.
What do you think of the matchup for the Super Bowl 2012? Which team will you be cheering and do you think the game could be as memorable as that of 2008? Let us know with your comments.
