Motorola Xoom 4.0 ICS Update: Android OS rolling out now

This year’s CES may be over and we’ve seen the introduction of upcoming tablets such as the Acer Iconia Tab A700 and the Toshiba Excite X10. However all the talk at last year’s CES was of the Motorola Xoom tablet, described by many at that time as the best Android tablet. If you are a Motorola Xoom owner you will be pleased today to hear that the latest new Android OS is ready for the public and could be heading your way.

When the Xoom was released it was running the most up-to-the-minute operating system at the time, Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Now that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is available after first showing on the Galaxy Nexus smartphone, the Xoom becomes one of the first tablets to receive the Android ICS upgrade. The over-the-air update has already begun to roll out to users in the US for the Xoom Wi-Fi version. It had only been available previously to a few people via the Motorola Feedback Network for testing.

The news was brought to us from BGR, sourced from XDA Developers and some of you may already have received the OTA update to Ice Cream Sandwich. However there’s no indication yet of when the OS IML77 update will appear for Xoom 4G LTE owners of for international users of the Motorola Xoom. Mashable reports that the OTA update will be rolled out over the next few weeks so you may need to be a little patient.

Are you a Motorola Xoom owner waiting for a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich? Maybe you’re one of those fortunate enough to have already received the update?
