AT&T Uncovers New Data Plans, New Prices
Changes to AT&T’s data plans are on the way and will be effective from Sunday January 22. If you are a current AT&T contract customer it will not be necessary to change your current plan but new customers to the network will have to choose from one of the new costlier data plans available.
There is a choice of three new data plans for smartphone users and two new ones for tablet users plus the use of one existing plan. The smartphone data plan options are AT&T Data Plus which offers 300MB for $20 monthly, AT&T Data Pro 3GB offering 3GB for $30 monthly and finally AAT&T Data Pro 5GB offering 5GB of data for $50 monthly with mobile hotspot/tethering. Extra data on both of the Data Pro plans will cost $10 per gigabyte or for the Data Plus plan it will be $20 per 300MB.
New tablet data plans are the AT&T DataConnect 3GB which gives the user 3GB for $30 monthly or the AT&T DataConnect 5GB plan offering 5GB of data for $50 monthly. Users could also choose the current 250MB plan for $14.99 monthly. If you’re not sure which is the best plan for your needs then AT&T has come up with some tools to use at www.att.com/dataplans, including a data calculator. AT&T will also send out usage alerts to customers on the plans to keep you informed of how much data you’re using.
AT&T’s Mobility and Consumer Markets chief marketing officer David Christopher said, “Customers are using more data than ever before. Our new plans are driven by this increasing demand in a highly competitive environment, and continue to deliver a great value to customers, especially as we continue our 4G LTE deployment.”
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on the new higher-priced data plans on offer. AT&T describes them as “more data, more value,” but do you agree? Let us know by sending your comments.
