Galaxy Note US Obtainability: Looks set for Verizon & Sprint too
We recently told how despite initial concerns about whether the Samsung Galaxy Note was a phone or a tablet, the device had actually been a smash hit in the regions where it has already been released. Now it’s on the way to the U.S. and those waiting found out from CES last week that it was definitely heading to AT&T. Now we have heard that it seems as though the Galaxy Note will also be carried by Verizon and Sprint.
Some consumers were disappointed to hear that the Galaxy Note with LTE was to be released by AT&T so this latest news should please many. The smartphone/tablet hybrid with a humungous 5.3-inch AMOLED HD display, 1.4GHz processor, 8-megapixel rear camera and stylus has attracted the attention of many and seems to have found a real niche in the market for itself, with sales already over 1 million units. Now those in the US will soon get their hands on it although it’s being reported that there may be a name change to the Galaxy Journal.
Over on the Examiner a report tells how Los Angeles Industry Analyst Paul Mueller told how the Galaxy Note will be available through both Verizon and Sprint. He said, “It will possibly be called the Galaxy Journal. But it is certainly coming to both Sprint and Verizon during the first half of the year.” Many were surprised when the Galaxy S II did not come to Verizon but was carried by AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile but it seems that this time around Verizon is set to join in the competition for sales.
It’s pointed out by Slash Gear that Verizon getting the Galaxy Note is a positive thing as it’s more likely that developers will create more ROM’s for it, the more widely available the device is. The site also states that the Galaxy Note is “set to be the biggest smartphone release of the late winter” and we’d have to agree with that. If you’re a Samsung fan you may also be interested in our previous article today about a possible look at the Galaxy S III, also thought to be coming in the early part of 2012.
We’re interested to know if you’ll be purchasing a Galaxy Note. Are you a Verizon or Sprint customer happy to hear it should be heading your way?
