Droid RAZR MAXX Looks Like a January 26 Verizon Release

As we like to keep readers informed with the latest smartphones regular readers might remember our reports on the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX, coming to Verizon. Although it was finally made official by Verizon last week we now have news on what looks like a pretty promising release date.

We first heard about the Droid RAZR MAXX back in December only a few weeks after the original RAZR was released. We learned it was a 4G LTE handset but wondered what the differences would be between the RAZR MAXX and the Droid RAZR. The phone was then confirmed by Verizon, along with the Motorola Droid 4 and we finally learned more details of the RAZR MAXX.

The Droid RAZR MAXX has a larger battery than the previous Droid RAZR, giving around 21 hours use on a single charge. It has 32 GB of storage and will be launched on Android 2.3.5 but Verizon confirms an update to Android 4.0 ICS in the future. Although a price of $299.99 on the usual two-year-contract was also announced, the only news on a release date was in the “coming weeks.” However Droid-Life now tells of a pretty convincing launch date of January 26, which if accurate means there’s not too much longer to wait.

The news doesn’t even come from a leak but from Motorola’s own landing page for the Droid RAZR MAXX so if the company was trying to keep the date a secret they slipped up big time! If you want to see more of the Droid RAZR MAXX then check out the video below this story for a hands-on experience from DroidMatters at CES 2012, where you can see it’s a very nice looking device.

Are you intending to purchase the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX on Verizon? If so what makes this the phone of your choice rather than any of the other recently released handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?
