Sony Xperia S Commendable Specs and Features
Just a few days ago we informed readers of the Sony Xperia ion smartphone, announced at CES. This is looking like a pretty impressive phone and now we have news of another new Sony Xperia smarthone, the Sony Xperia S, with some details of specs and features.
Again, this is looking like a very decent handset on first impressions with some notable specs, such as a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch HD display with resolution of 1280 x 720, 1GB of RAM and NFC support. The camera will also sound very pleasing to many of you as there’s a 12-megapixel rear camera featuring the Sony Exmor R backlit sensor and capable of 1080p HD video capture. Up front there’s a 1.3-megapixel shooter with 720p HD video recording. The Xperia S will come in both 16 and 32GB storage models but no microSD slot. On top of all this if you’re a person who enjoys gaming you’ll be pleased to hear that the Xperia S will come PlayStation certified with access to the PlayStation Store.
Appearance-wise we have to say that the Xperia S is a stylish and sleek smartphone in black or white color options that will appeal to a lot of people. Like the Xperia Ion, one letdown is that it won’t release on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system but on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. However in the press release over on Engadget, Sony assures the ICS update will come in the second quarter of 2012. The press release also says the phone will launch in the first quarter although BGR narrows that down to shipping worldwide, beginning in March.
Overall it seems that Sony is pulling out the stops with the Xperia S and the Xperia ion and should be gaining some positive attention with these latest smartphones. We’d like to hear your thoughts on the Sony Xperia S. Would you consider purchasing this phone and if so what would make you choose it over other new phones coming up, such as the LG Spectrum or Motorola Droid 4? Let us have your comments.
