Ultrabook – Lenovo ThinkPad T430u Specs, Release, Price

Yesterday Lenovo announced a swathe of new laptops and we’ve already given details on the ThinkPad X1 Hybrid. Now we have details for you about the ThinkPad T430u Ultrabook, aimed at the business user. Read on for more on specs, price and release details.

The ThinkPad T430u is a 14-inch laptop with a 1366 x 768 resolution and will be priced from $849. It has a soft-touch matte finish similar to the T420 and is only 0.78-inches thick, weighing less than 4 pounds. There will be a choice of the latest Intel Core i processors and SSD or HDD storage options. Other features are an island-style keyboard, optional Nvidia graphics, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth and an expected battery life of up to 6.5 hours.

Lenovo’s Quick Resume and Rapid Boot technologies also feature and there are two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI-out, 4-in-1 multicard reader and Mini Display Port. There’s a bit longer to wait for this new ThinkPad though, as opposed to the X1 Hybrid, as the T430u is not scheduled to release until Quarter 3 of this year, according to TechSpot. However this means third-generation Intel processors (Ivy Bridge) will be available for an even faster performance. There’s also up to 1TB of storage as reported by Engadget who also point out that this is the first ultrabook that’s come to their attention with a dedicated GPU.

The T430u ultrabook certainly sounds as though it could be an attractive proposition to the enterprise market with impressive specs, fast performance and priced competitively but we’ll be waiting to see more about it at CES next week. We’re interested to hear your thoughts on this upcoming Lenovo ultrabook with integrated or discrete NVIDIA graphics. Does Q3 of 2012 suddenly seem too far away? I think they just rebuilt the X1, put a lower specced processor, better graphics and called it a day, because they look pretty similar, except for the matte screen. I love the design though, so I guess it’s a good thing.
