HTC Ville, Galaxy Nexus Challenger: New Image Shows Sleek Style

We recently brought readers news of what seems to be a very notable upcoming smartphone, the HTC Ville. We wondered if this could be a challenger to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus although the Ville is not expected until April 2012 but both handsets will launch with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Now we have news of what appears to be the first image of the HTC Ville and it’s looking pretty sleek.

The Galaxy Nexus is coming to Verizon in the US but still has no confirmed release date, which is frustrating a lot of consumers who have been patiently waiting for it. It is however a 4G LTE device whereas the HTC Ville is an HSPA+ handset that will head to AT&T or T-Mobile. If you’re not fussed about LTE connectivity though the Galaxy Nexus is now available in the US as an HSPA+ variant, unlocked for use with AT&T or T-Mobile.

Back to the HTC Ville though and the new purported leaked image of it comes from Evan Blass over on Pocketnow and shows just how slim this device is. The styling of this handset and its apparent slimness may be a winning point for the HTC Ville as it’s said to be only around 8mm thick, that’s thinner than an iPhone 4S. It’s a beautiful looking thing and as Zach Epstein over on BGR points out, looks like a thinner HTC Sensation.

Add on to the stylish looks the expectations of a 1.5GHz dual-core processor (Galaxy Nexus is 1.2GHz), 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display, 8-megapixel rear camera (Galaxy Nexus is 5-megapixels), and you certainly have another smartphone to consider apart from the Galaxy Nexus. The HTC Edge is also due early next year too so there are plenty of tempting smartphones on the way.

We should hear much more about the HTC Ville at Mobile World Congress in February but apart from the drawback of no LTE we think this is looking like a very promising Android handset. Take a look at the image above and tell us what you think. Could you be tempted by the specs and styling of the HTC Ville, despite it’s lack of LTE? Let us know with your comments.
