Disclosed Samsung Galaxy Nexus /Prime: Specs Leak Tells All

It often seems in the case of upcoming smartphones that we have the odd leak drizzle through and then a torrent over a few days and that’s exactly what has happened with the Samsung Nexus Prime, or should I say the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Just earlier today we gave you speculation about a possible release date and have previously rounded up rumors. However, today a new leak has come to light, which reveals full specs on the smartphone.

We’ve had a few hints of various specs and even saw a teaser video from Samsung, thought to be for the Nexus Prime but Jonathan S. Geller over on BGR now tells all on the Google flagship device, ahead of the Samsung Unpacked event in which we were expecting to hear more next week. Geller refers to it as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, codenamed the Nexus Prime and we’ve already told how this handset is causing an awful lot of excitement in the smartphone world as it’s set to be possibly the first using the next Android OS, 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.

BGR quotes a “trusted source” for the new info and as this comes from BGR we’re inclined to trust it. This is what they say will be revealed at the event next Tuesday. The Galaxy Nexus is 9mm thin and has a whopping 4.65-inch screen Super AMOLED HD screen with resolution of 1280 x 720. Now that’s something we can’t wait to see! It will feature a 1.2GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facer as well as 1080p HD video recording capability.

Other inclusions are LTE/HSPA depending on carrier, which in the U.S. will be Verizon exclusively, WiFi a/b/g/n, NFC support and a well-sized 1750mAh battery. As we expected from the beginning the Galaxy Nexus will be a pure Google Experience handset and that will please many. However earlier today we gave readers a rumor roundup of one of the few handsets that we think could challenge the Galaxy Nexus, the HTC Vigor. The Vigor is likely to be layered with the HTC Sense 3.5 UI and there will be those of you that like the sound of that, although the Vigor is unlikely to launch with Ice Cream Sandwich.

This is certainly giving Android lovers plenty to think about. The Galaxy Nexus and HTC Vigor both sound as though they will be outstanding smartphones and both have different things to offer. Are you thinking of purchasing the Galaxy Nexus on release or might the HTC Vigor be more up your street? Why not let us know with your comments.
