One million units of Microsoft Kinect sold in first 10 days
We’ve been bringing you lots of news about the Microsoft Xbox Kinect system both before and since its release and we have to say it has made quite a splash. Just some of our recent posts about it include a review roundup, a look at the Microsoft Kinect vs the PlayStation Move for the Black Friday sales, and also news of a doorbuster free copy of the Kinect game “Dance Central” in the Old Navy Black Friday sale.
Now our attention has been caught by the sales figures for this latest gaming system which has taken the world by storm and the figures are hugely impressive. Bill Rigby over on Reuters reports that the Kinect gaming system has sold more than one million units in its first 10 days of sale. Microsoft had a target for sales of 5 million by the end of the year and it looks as though that figure could be reached.
Head of Microsoft’s games unit, Don Mattrick said, “It’s a strong start. Consumers are loving it.” The Kinect can be purchased as a standalone to be used with an existing Xbox 360 for $150 or as part of an Xbox 360 bundle for around $300. With Black Friday approaching there are bound to be a lot of special deals available and sales are set to increase yet again after the initial release rush.
