Baltimore Marathon 2010 Results: Kenya’s David Rutoh Wins
Yesterday we brought you an article on the 2010 Under Armour Baltimore Marathon, which included details of the times and the route that the runners would be taking. Well we can now tell you that the race has actually taken place, and we are able to bring you the results.
According to wbaltv.com, Ethiopia’s Alene Reta was leading for most of the race, but Kenya’s David Rutoh – who was in fact a late entry into this year’s race – managed to take over the lead in the 21st mile and remained in the lead until he crossed the finishing line in 1st place.
David finished the marathon in a time of 2:13:11, which is just under the record time of 2:11:56. He now takes home a prize of $23,000. In the meantime, Columbia’s Juan Carlos Cardona came in second and fellow Kenyan Kennedy Kemei finished the race in third.
Ukraine’s Olena Shurkhno became the very first woman to cross the race’s finish line today, with a total time of 2:32:17. She too will take home prize money of $23,000. According to the report, over 22,000 runners took part in Saturday’s marathon, which began at 8am.
