HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7 handset: Specs, carriers, release date
We’ve been hearing all the news from the Microsoft Event today for the launch of the Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system. We’ve just posted an article to round up all 10 handsets launched at the press conference with Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and we want to look in more detail at the HTC HD7 smartphone which in a previous article we said was expected today.
Back in September we told of some leaks about HTC HD7 accessories which led us to believe it would be coming shortly and today it was announced it will be being released on T-Mobile in the USA and in the U.K. on O₂. The HD7 had previously been referred to as the HD3 but was renamed to tie in with Windows Phone 7 and many of you will want to know some of the specs and information available now.
For starters it has a 4.3-inch WVGA (800 x 480) TFT screen, a 5-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and 720/24p video. There’s also a 1 GHZ Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 576 MB of RAM and lucky consumers in the U.S. will already have Netflix, Slacker and T-Mobile TV entertainment apps installed, according to Vlad Savov over on Engadget. It will also come in the U.S. with 16 GB of built-in storage but HD7’s not in the U.S. may only have 8GB of storage.
Release date in Europe is set for October 21 with its arrival in U.S. in mid-November, so not too long to wait now. For more on specs and also the T-Mobile press release, go to engadget.com. Will you be opting for the HTC HD7? We’re interested to hear from you regarding both this handset and also what you think about the Windows Phone 7 operating system so please do send in your comments.
