Windows Phone 7: Looks like it’s October 21?
Way back in July we reported on the new Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system and at that time looked into the prototype supplied to developers which didn’t exactly meet with rave reviews. At the time it was widely said that the operating system felt incomplete or wasn’t quite up to scratch and we noted that Microsoft needed to get it right before the actual release which didn’t at that time have a date.
However there are rumors today from 2 separate sources that Windows Phone 7 devices will be launching in Europe on October 21. Although these are unconfirmed reports they do look credible and both sources say their information comes from people “familiar” with Microsoft according to Samuel Axon over on Mashable. No doubt we’ll start to get an influx of Windows Phone 7 operated handsets, such as the HTC HD7 (previously known as the HD3), which we previously reported had a rumored release date of before November when accessories are due out.
One website in Spain, El Economista, has the release date of Windows Phone 7 handsets in Spain as October 21. Then lo and behold, a report on Neowin gave the same launch date for Italy, the UK, France and Germany and also said that Microsoft would be revealing some Windows Phone 7 phones in New York on October 11.
Although there’s no date for release in the US out yet, there’s no reason to think it wouldn’t be out around the same time. For more on this go to mashable.com.
