Seton Hall Shooting: University Student Killed by Gunman
Tragedy struck Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey on Saturday, when a gunman entered a party at an off-campus apartment and fatally shot and killed 19-year old university student Jessica Moore and wounded four others.
According to a recent article over at The Associated Press by Erin Vanderberg and Samantha Henry, a fellow student said that both she and Moore had been attending a party early on Saturday, when a fight broke out after a guy was kicked out.
The woman said that the guy went away, but came back with a gun and had begun shooting. East Orange Police Sgt. Andrew Di Elmo said that the four other victims suffered non life-threatening injuries and had been hospitalized, and one had already been released.
As of early Sunday the gunman was still at large, and the police were offering a $10,000 reward for information that could well lead to his capture. Fellow students, teachers and friends of Jessica attended an evening prayer service for Jessica on Saturday.
Moore’s parent’s, uncle and grandparents were also on campus, praying for Jessica – who was a sophomore honors student majoring in psychology – and mourning her death. It was the 59-year old neighbor Mary Williams who made the 911 call.
In a telephone interview, Mary said that she had heard a lot of hollering and screaming, and saw people climbing out of the windows and trying to rush out of the front door. You can read more of this story via the Associated Press.
