Google Doodle: New Logo with No Message
The Google search engine is forever changing the logo on its homepage to celebrate special occasions. Just in the past month or so the Google Doodle has paid tribute to Mary Shelley, celebrated the 71st anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz” movie, and celebrated 25 years since the Buckyball discovery.
However, users who visited the Google’s UK homepage today (Tuesday, 7th September), were greeted with a group of colored balls that make up the word “Google.” Although according to Andrew Hough at telegraph.co.uk, there is no message or explanation as to what it means.
If you hover over the colored balls with your mouse, they can be dispersed across your homepage but if they are left alone, they gradually stop and form the Google logo. Because there is nothing to say what exactly the new interactive logo is celebrating, users have been left in a bit of confusion.
This mysterious Doodle is in fact the third interactive design that has been released by Google. The most recent one was the Buckyball, which replaced the Google logo’s middle O. When users scrolled over the buckyball, they could turn and twist it in different directions.
The very first interactive Google Doodle went public on May 21st, 2010, and it celebrated the 30th birthday of Pac-Man. The Pac-Man character could actually be moved around with the arrow keys on the user’s keyboard, and probably became quite addictive for the time that it was featured.
