iOS 4.1 / 4.2 Update: Download and Features
We’ve been bringing you all the speculation about what may be announced at the Apple Event today, taking place right now with the keynote speech by Steve Jobs already underway. A major announcement that’s just taken place is that of iOS 4.1.
The update to the operating system includes bug fixes for the proximity sensor, Bluetooth and iPhone 3G, according to Donald Melanson over on Engadget. Other features will be High Dynamic Range photos with the software taking one underexposed, one normal exposed and one over exposed and merging them for one perfect shot, and there’ll also be HD Video upload over WiFi. Another really big feature will be the new Game Center.
The Game Center will have multiplayer games, challenge friends and auto matching. The download for iOS 4.1 will be available next week but the actual day is not yet specified. There’s more big news too and that is wireless printing and that one is going to please an awful lot of people. An added announcement just made is that of iOS 4.2, which is apparently going to be available in November. Paul Miller over on Engadget reports that this will have all the added features if iOS 4.1 and also some specific features for iPads, one of which is AirPlay.
That means that users will be able to stream music and video direct to i-devices over WiFi. Keep checking back with us for more news from the Apple Event. What do you think of what you know so far about iOS 4.1 and 4.2? Why not send us a comment to let us know.
