PGA Championship 2010: Leaderboard after Friday’s second round play
Usually after the end of each day of play at the PGA Championship 2010 we would be bringing you results for the complete round that day. However this year’s tournament from Whistling Straits has been beset by fog and weather conditions that mean the second round has not yet completed at the end of Friday’s play.
So far at the top of the leaderboard two Americans are leading the way with Matt Kuchar, who scored an impressive second round of 69, followed by Nick Watney in second position. We’ve all heard how desperate Tiger Woods is to qualify on points for the Ryder Cup, rather than rely on the captain’s pick, but he’ll need to pick up his game if he’s to do that. According to BBC Sport, he needs to finish in the top 15 to stand any chance of automatic qualifying.
He only managed to play 6 holes on Friday before play was curtailed because of bad light and parred on all of them so it’s anyone’s guess at the moment. The top players on the second round leaderboard as it stands are Matt Kuchar on -8, two round total of 136, followed by Nick Watney on -7, two round total of 137, and then 7 players, including upcoming star Rory McIlroy, tied for 3rd position on -5 with a two round total of 139.
If you want to take at the full leaderboard so far for Round Two go to pga.com. The cut for Saturday’s third round still has to be made as 78 players from the second day must still complete their round. Do you think Tiger Woods can recover his form to improve his chances for the Ryder Cup? Do you think they’ll even finish Round 2 on Saturday when they should be playing round 3? We’d be interested to hear what your thoughts are on this so why not send us your comments.
