Chelsea Clinton’s wedding – Perfect day, plus PICTURES
After all the publicity and hype surrounding yesterday’s U.S. equivalent to a royal wedding, it’s all over already and apparently it was a beautiful day with everything going according to plan. We told in our article yesterday about Chelsea Clinton’s desire to keep her wedding details as private as possible and although it was a grand affair, the Clinton’s and of course her groom Marc Mezvinsky, appear to have pulled it off.
The first pictures have now been released by the family and if you want to take a look there’s a great selection over on the guardian.co.uk here. It really does look as though the couple, family and friends enjoyed a wonderful day. The wedding took place at Rhinebeck, New York state and after all the speculation about the bride’s dress, it was a Vera Wang design, a traditional white strapless gown, according to James Meikle over on The Guardian.
A statement was released by Bill and Hillary Clinton saying, “Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family.”
There had been much talk of exactly how the service would be held as Chelsea Clinton is Methodist and Marc Mezvinsky is Jewish, and it seems as though both a rabbi and a minister conducted the ceremony. Guests included former secretary of state Madeleine Albright, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen and Terry McAuliffe.
