StarCraft II: Reviews are out – Silencing the critics

We know many of you are huge fans of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty that was launched in a blaze of publicity earlier this week. Two days ago we posted an article about the Amazon reviews for the game which were less than favourable and we received a huge feedback from many of you, lots of you feeling the game was overpriced, but many more of you disputing that and giving the game your wholehearted approval.
Most of the amazon users’ criticisms about the game seem to be to do with the pricing but reviews that are now out have given the game glowing reports. For example over on Digital Trends, Ryan Fleming says that to compete with the amount of hype the game has received it would need to be an epic. He goes on to say that although it’s not perfect it is one of the best games in the real-time strategy genre, ever made.
He does however point out the drawback of the exclusion of LAN play, which is what many of you at home have indicated your displeasure about. Fleming also said the decision to have more expansion packs to complete the experience “leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouth”, but calls these drawbacks minor flaws in an overall review that is very positive indeed.
Another review by Robert Ahrens over on USA Today, also says great things about StarCraft 2, giving it a rating of 4/4 and saying it was well worth the wait. Over on Ars Technica an extensive article by Ben Kuchera looks into just how much of a full game StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty really is and Kuchera obviously feel people have been whining too much. He points out that for $60 StarCraft II is a “huge” game.
All in all then it seems that the critics will definitely be silenced by the reviews. The overall feeling from these and others we’ve looked at say great things about the game, but what do you think? Now you’ve had a few days to get used to the game do you agree with the reviews that people complaining about it are merely whiners? NO SUPPORT!
I bought the game, but haven't been able to play, because it says "cannot create character". No matter what I do – change password as some suggested, unplug internet cable, etc, it still won't let me. This means that I can't even play the campaign until someone gets around to help. I sent an e-mail out 48 hours ago, but still no response.
Worse yet, I can't post my problem on the forums to ask for help because you can't post anything unless you have a character created in game – WHICH I CAN'T DO.
I can't return the game because of the "no return of opened games" at my store, so I'm stuck.
P.S.
Look on the forums (which I can read, but not write to), the longest threads there are from others who have had similar problems (cannot do initial log in), and have resorted to using their guest passes/family/friend's account to post requests for help because they can't log on themselves. There seem to be little if any responses from Blizzard employees addressing the problems.
yeah no lan play is definately a deal breaker for me I live rural and broadband latency from a sattelite is a fact of life so no online gaming here , not too mention I always played zerg or protoss before and now cannot even do that without buying the expansion, I'm happy I have not bought the game yet cause after doing some reading now I wont.
You can still play custom solo games with any race..and I'm sure the constant whining of people that there is no LAN play will cause Blizzard to patch a method in. It's probably already in the system, just not an option because they figured there wouldn't be that huge of a demand for it.
you can play as all 3 races in both multiplayer and single player, its just that the protoss and zerg dont have campaigns yet, and there is a mini-campaign that you play as the protoss.
