New Apple Mac Pro release includes 12-core
As we thought in our post earlier today the fact that the Apple Store was down did in fact mean new hardware was on its way. We said we expected new iMacs, Mac Pros, Apple Cinema Display and the Magic Trackpad to be released and that’s exactly what happened.
We’ve already posted about the new iMac line now we’ll tell you a little you may want to know about the Mac Pro line. The powerful hardware has even more potency than previously with a dual-CPU rig offering 12 cores at an equally potent price of $4,999. Price for a quad-core starts at $2,499 and eight-core Mac Pro’s now start at $3,499, according to Vlad Savov on Engadget.
Apple reckons the new Mac Pro line, available in August, offers up to a 50% greater performance than previously. One of the best improvements has to be the Radeon HD 5570 as default GPU, with an option for a 1GB HD 8570. Choices of memory range up to 32GB RAM. For the first time there’s the option to order a 512GB SSD for ultra-fast performance.
Unfortunately use of the Magic Trackpad isn’t thrown in but will cost another $69. For more on this go to engadget.com. What do you think of the new Apple Mac Pro line? We’d be interested in hearing your comments on this.
