Nissan Cube Recall 2010: Details

A recall has been issued today by Nissan and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for 46,000 Nissan Cube models from 2009 and 2010. The recall has been made because of a fuel leakage and the recall date will be from August 30.
The NHTSA said in its summary of the problem, “These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 301, fuel system integrity,” according to a report on Inside Line. The NHTSA said in its examinations using a rear moving barrier crash test, the amount of fuel leakage was above the limits allowed, and that fuel leakage could result in a fire.
However Nissan said that in its internal certification testing there were no reports of fuel leakage, although Nissan has still complied with the recall. A special protector is being developed which will be fitted to the gasoline recirculation tube as a fix in the recall.
If you’re a Nissan Cube owner of one of these models then call Nissan on 800-647-7261 for enquiries. For more on this go to insideline.com. Have you a Nissan Cube vehicle affected by the recall? Let us know how you get on and how the recall is handled.
