We know an awful lot of you are hanging out waiting for the release of the White Apple iPhone 4 and we recently brought you news of its imminent release at the end of July as was reported from many reputable sources.

However we now have some pretty bad news for all those of you who thought you would soon get your hands on that lovely White iPhone 4. Today Apple has released a brief press statement to say that it continues to have challenges with the production of the White iPhone and now it will not be available until later this year.

An article on Ars Technica by Jacqui Cheng tells how the White iPhone was delayed from June, then expected at the end of July and says that in this latest information from Apple it is no longer committing to any kind of date at all. It’s interesting to note that even last week at the Apple press conference to talk about the iPhone 4 antenna problems, Steve Jobs was still saying the White iPhone would be available later in July.

There has been a lot of speculation about just why there has been such a delay, from problems with the colorant and then a shortage of supplies for the glass panels, but Apple has offered no further explanation with its press statement today.
