56,000 Ford and Chrysler vehicles recall: Model details

56,000 Ford and Chrysler vehicles recall: Model details

There is news today of not only a Ford Motor Co. recall but also a Chrysler recall involving 56,000 vehicles in total, because of safety concerns. A statement from Ford said its recall concerned 33,728 2010 Transit Connect vans, manufactured between December 2008 and May 2010.

Ford said the pushpins holding the overhead material in the headliners do not meet federal requirements and need fixing, according to Surojit Chatterjee on the IB Times. Meanwhile the Chrysler recall involves 2010 models of its Dodge Nitro, Dodge Ram, Jeep Liberty and Jeep Wrangler models, a total of 22,118 altogether.

This is because of a possibility of defective brakes tubes that could cause a leak of brake fluid affecting brake functioning. Both recalls are voluntary and both companies say that no accidents or incidents have been reported yet. Both Ford and Chrysler say they will be contacting affected customers in the next few weeks to recall the vehicles to be fixed at no cost to the customer.

The NHTSA and the US Transportation Department have been informed of the recall by both companies. For more on this go to ibtimes.com. Have you noticed any problems with any of the models listed above? We’d be interested to hear your comments about this.
