Formula 1 2010: Turkish Grand Prix Results – Breathtaking Hamilton

The Formula 1 season for 2010 rolls on and today was the turn of the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park and it was a real thriller with a shock upset for Red Bull. Mark Webber looked almost a certainty to win as he had taken pole position yet again for the Red Bull team, but things went sadly awry for him.

After Webber had led for most of the race pursued by Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren, Vettel went past Hamilton after a pit-stop to close on Webber. Coming up to his teammate, Vettel on lap 40, according to itv-f1.com, thought he saw a chance to pass but clashed with Webber, meaning Vettel had to exit the race, master of his own defeat.

Webber had damage to his car but raced on after receiving new tyres and a replacement nose cone. Afterwards Hamilton and his teammate Jenson Button raced their McLaren’s with brilliance to make it a breathtaking race, edging close to each other on a number of occasions. The race ended with Hamilton first, Button second, and Webber doing well to keep a third place, increasing his championship lead.

Shumacher and Rosberg finished fourth and fifth in for Mercedes, followed by Kubica in the Renault. The Ferrari’s of Massa and Alonso finished seventh and eighth respectively.
