ICC World Twenty20 2010 final: England annihilate Australia

In the ICC World Twenty20 2010 final today England were up against Australia, and it was a cricket fan’s dream final to see the old traditional enemies up against each other. England however put on an outstanding performance to completely annihilate Australia with a seven-wicket win.
If you’re going to win your first ICC limited-overs tournament then why not do it in style? That seemed to be the message to Paul Collingwood’s men and my word they rose to the challenge, taking victory with three overs remaining, as reported by BBC Sport.
England’s success in the first games of this tournament seemed to have come as a surprise to many, but by the time they beat Sri Lanka in the semi-final, we’d all started to believe they could actually go on and win it and they didn’t let us down. Australia posted 147-6 with another great performance by Hussey, who had been nothing short of a miracle worker in their semi against Pakistan, but an Australian victory was not to be.
There were wild scenes of jubilation when Collingwood’s team won the title and who could blame them? For more on this go to BBC Sport. What did you think of the England team’s performance and who did you rate as the player of the tournament? We’d be happy to hear your views.
