American Idol 2010 strode gamely on last night and it was time to find out who was being kicked off and would be going home from the last 9, and lo and behold 2 people had to leave in a double elimination.

Andrew Garcia was the first to find out he was leaving. He’d started to fade over recent weeks so it was no big surprise when on Elvis week he sang a rather insipid version of Hound Dog. We then saw an appearance from Adam Lambert who was also this week’s mentor and a great job of it he did too.

Following that we saw the return of a popular past performer, Brooke White, who sang a duet with Justin Gaston. It was a great rendition of If I Can Dream, which endeared her to the audience all over again.

Then it was finally down to the last 2 and which one would go out of Michael Lynche and Katie Stevens. Big Mike was saved by the judges last week and this week sang a great version of In the Ghetto, so it was no surprise when he stayed and Katie was eliminated. So from 9 we’re down to the last 7.
