Make Your iPhone 4G: Sprint’s Signature Ads

It appears that Sprint have entered the crossover marketing world by using the iPhone to promote their Overdrive wireless router. One of Sprint’s signature 4G ads has been launched which shows 2 men getting the most out of their iPhones by pairing it with the Overdrive.
In the ad Sprint send a clear message about AT&T with one of the 2 guys saying, “My friend Steve’s iPhone is cool but it’s limited to AT&T’s 3G speeds, so I’m going to use the Overdrive’s mobile hotspot to make it up to 10 times faster”. His friend ‘Steve’ then looks suitably won over as he downloads and views a video.
It’s a smart move by Sprint as they’ve jumped on a device that’s already available, as opposed to Verizon when they attempted a similar trick with the Apple iPad, which is not out yet. They’ve set their stall out to secure their 4G position and get in front of competitors installing LTE technology.
Sprint are making swift progress at present and next week will also see their reveal of the first 4G Wi-Max phone at CTIA in Las Vegas. Do you think Swift’s clever ploy will pay off and will they be able to see off the competition?
