The tornado season seems to be starting early as Oklahoma suffers extreme weather conditions for the time of year. In western Oklahoma late yesterday afternoon a tornado hit which devastated 5 houses and also a county government-owned barn.
Thankfully Michelann Ooten, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, reports that there were no injuries. She added that several more homes had their roofs blown off and that power lines were brought down.
A television storm spotter for the National Weather Service apparently reported the tornado around 5:15 p.m. near to Elk City. It travelled along the ground for around 15 minutes across countryside before arriving at Hammon, 15 miles north.
