With the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver set to start any day now you may be wondering where you can see all the latest news and coverage of the opening ceremony.

This Winter Olympics will be a major international event with athletes from across the globe competing for the chance of glory, and will run between February 12 and February 28. It is thought there will be representatives from over 80 countries.

Both the Olympic and Paralympic games are being held in Vancouver, along with some events in Whistler and Richmond. Canada has now hosted the Olympics games 3 times and previous events included the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and then the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. The current cost of staging this enormous event, including restructuring, is estimated to be in the region of $6 billion so let’s hope the projected benefits and revenue of $10 billion are correct.

The NBC website is an excellent one for viewing video clips of all the action and they will of course be showing the opening ceremony as well as ones-to-watch, highlights, profiles and interviews. There is even a handy countdown so you can see the hours, minutes and seconds to wait until the action begins.

The traditional Olympic torch relay will cover more than 45,000 kilometres and in Canada alone will be carried by over 12,000 people. I for one am looking forward to the games beginning, and knowing that I will be in the company of millions more from all over the world will only add to the sense of occasion.
