It appears that a blizzard has hit the mid-Atlantic region recently, with many people in the area waking up this morning to a couple of feet of snow. According to a recent report at npr.org, officials have urged people to just stay at home over this weekend.
A report in The Washington Post, said that the full weight of winter had brought life to a standstill in most of the Washington area on Saturday, after a storm that is predicted to be one of the most powerful storms on record hit the area with 12-21 inches of snow overnight.
And with the snow and bad weather conditions, are the problems that come with it. Only this morning, the Virginia State Police reported that they have responded to 1,101 vehicle wrecks that involve property damage state-wide since just yesterday.
WRC-TV in Washington, said that at least 80,000 customers in the Maryland area didn’t have power and over 50,000 in the Virginia area were also said to be in the dark. Reports are saying that no one should really be out, unless it is a case of an emergency.
