Hope For Haiti Benefit: Tear-jerking and top performers

Hope For Haiti Benefit: Tear-jerking and top performers

The “Hope for Haiti Now took place last night, the show ran for two hours and there was never a dry tear in the eyes. We would agree that the mood on the show was very somber, but how can you try to make a show seem fun with such an important message to put across. Most of the performances were very moving, such as Justin Timberlake singing “Hallelujah”, which we discussed in a recent post.

Wyclef Jean, the former Fugees band member and son of Haiti decided that we should lift our spirits, he said “Enough of this moping, man, let’s rebuild Haiti, let’s show ‘em how we do it where we come from!” He then went onto sing his own version of “Rivers of Babylon.” It was fun and full of energy as he sung the song with a Haitian flag hanging around his neck.

He then moved onto his next song “Yele”, this was an amazing performance as he had his musicians dancing around him and singing to the beat. This was great to see a fellow Haitian showing how they can pick their spirits up after such tragedy.

Last night’s telethon was an idea put together by Hollywood hunk George Clooney and MTV, as well as some help from a number of others. They hoped to raise millions for the fund, and with an all-star cast this was certainly achievable.
