Graco Recalls 1.5million Strollers: Does Your Stroller Have Uncovered Hinges?

Graco have recalled around 1.5million units of their Graco strollers due to health concerns that have seen seven severe injuries thus far, resulting in the largest ever stroller recall in American history. If your stroller is affected, here is how you can deal with the problem.

Graco have narrowed the search down, and the strollers affected are ones sold between October 2004 and February 2008. Mainly strollers that were sold via Target, Wal-Mart, Babies “R” Us, Toys “R” Us, Kmart and Sears.

The Christian Science Monitor have written a detailed analysis of how you can find out if your product is affected, along with photos to help you. The reason for the recall is uncovered hinges on the canopy of the Graco Passage, Alano, and Spree strollers.

If you think you got yourself a stroller in the time period as mentioned above, then you will need to check your model number against the chart that can be seen on this page. To find the model number, look on the lower inside portion of the rear frame, just above the rear wheels.

This is the second time in recent times that strollers have been recalled. Maclaren had a similar issue with their strollers and recalled around 1 million units which resulted in injuring 15 toddlers, with 12 severely injured.

A repair kit is being made available to existing owners of the strollers, which will be available in one to two weeks. To receive this repair kit, you can do it by filling out a form which can be found here, or by calling 800-345-4109. The website has received a huge amount of traffic recently due to the recall, so be patient if you are trying to get through.

You can view all the information above, plus links and relative information about how to order your repair kit, and how to find your model number from the source below. It is advised that if you are one of the customers affected, you are to stop using your stroller immediately.
