Haiti Earthquake: Twitter and Facebook Full of Pictures

Devastation was brought to the Caribbean island of Haiti on Tuesday, when it was hit with the worst earthquake in recent years. With communications being down, people across the world with relatives in Haiti are desperate to contact loved ones.

And one example of this is Danglass Gregoire, who is a resident of Haiti and was on a trip to Florida at the time the earthquake happened. His wife and daughter had stayed behind, and it was only when he landed in Miami that he learned of the earthquake.

He panicked and wanted so desperately to communicate with his family. And it was the same situation with many people in US cities. And according to thaindian.com, it was social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, which were of help.

Twitter is not only full of well wishes for the people affected by the earthquake in Haiti, but it is also full of pictures. Residents have been taking pictures and uploading them onto the web, giving other people a glimpse into the devastation there.

One Twitter user has posted quite a lot of pictures of the tragic incident on the site, which has received wide responses from people. And it appears that thousands of pictures and updates, are flooding Twitter and Facebook every second.
