President Obama to Name Howard Schmidt as Cybersecurity Coordinator

According to recent reports from foxnews.com, it is today that the White House will announce that President Obama has chosen Howard A. Schmidt, as the new Cybersecurity Coordinator. Schmidt will be filling the post, after a year-long search.
An administration official said that Cybersecurity is critical to both the U.S’s national security, and economic competitiveness. Obama wanted to make sure, that the new Cybersecurity Coordinator had the right mix of private and public sector experience.
Reports say that the President chose Schmidt, because of his unique background and skillsets. He has not only served as Chief Information Security Officer at eBay, but also Chief Security Officer at Microsoft and has worked for the Defense Department.

Schmidt is a former Bush Administration appointee. Looks like Obama has finally realized that when real work needs to be done, political cronies just can’t hack it.
