The fifth annual Granville Turkey Trot took place yesterday and according to reports from newarkadvocate.com, this year’s race, which is sponsored by Jennie-O Turkey Store, raised at least $16,000 for the Food Pantry Network of Licking County.

Bruce Westall, who is the event organizer, said that this year’s 5K Turkey Trot appeared to attract a bigger crowd than ever, proving that it really has grown with each year. Last year about 750 took part, but this year, he estimates it was more towards 1,200.

Amy Chrysler was seen running across the finishing line, holding her six-month old nephew in her arms. She said that six-month old Jack, who was dressed in a full turkey costume, had been in the stroller for the first half, but she then had to carry him as he was cranky.
