With it being Thanksgiving in the United States today, we thought that we would give you a few facts about Thanksgiving Day and its history. That way, if anyone asks you a question about Thanksgiving at the dinner table, you can look like a know-it-all.

Thanksgiving become an official federal holiday, in 1941 by an act of Congress. But it was much earlier than that in 1863 during the Civil War, that Abraham Lincoln first proclaimed a national day of thanksgiving, setting the date in November.

And the reason why the date of Thanksgiving changes each year is because it is always on the third Thursday in November. According to rightcelebrity.com, where you can find more trivia, it is the only national holiday that floats on a midweek day.
