Obama Bows To Japanese Emperor: Controversy Grows

President Obama has come under fire for bowing to the Japanese Emperor Akihito on Saturday, following critics of the presidential act of deference suggesting that he ‘violated protocol.’ The President was photographed at a 90 degree angle, bowing to the Emperor in Japan.
But instead of denying that Obama did such a thing, like they did when he apparently bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia in April, an administration official defended it, by saying Obama “observes protocol” and that the greeting “enhanced both the position and the status of the U.S. relative to Japan,” where a bow is the same as a handshake in Japan.
But Pamela Eyring president of The Protocol School of Washington was not convinced by the method of greeting and said that ‘bowing’ is “not appropriate” when world leaders meet because they are peers. “Unfortunately, it isn’t correct for a chief of state to bow to another chief of state, It’s not appropriate. He should not be bowing to other chiefs of state.” She told FoxNews.
Should President Obama be bowing to other chief’s of state?
