Michael Scott, President of Chicago Public Schools: Body Found

Chicago School Board President Michael Scott’s body has been found in the Chicago River near the Merchandise Mart early this morning with a gunshot wound to the left temple. His car, A Blue Cadillac was found parked up nearby. An autopsy will be performed later today to determine how the 60-year-old died.

Rev. Jesse Jackson visited the scene after hearing about his death on the news and said “Everyone thought Michael was their guy, People are so very sad. .. . The suddenness of it all — midday has become midnight. The sun has been eclipsed.” Jackson also described Scott by saying he was equally happy and comfortable working with Chicago’s poorest children or sitting courtside at a Bulls game.

“My wife and I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Michael Scott,” Cook County Board President Todd Stroger said. “Mr. Scott was a strong advocate for education. His contributions to the minority communities of Cook County will be sorely missed. In particular, his love for the upward mobility of residents from Chicago’s West Side where he spent his life.”

Are you sure that Scott committed suicided? First question I would ask was if Scott was left-handed. It seems to me that he had his interests in a lot of opportunities for influence peddling and graft. I guess that is why he was being investigated. Another thing why wouldn’t this guy blow his brains-out inside his automobile rather than getting out of the car. Lastly, has the Chicago Police recovered the weapon?

It is shocking news to me as I and many others whom attended the Coppenhagen Chicago 2016 trip to support the Olympics for Chicago spent good times together promoting our city. I had the pleasure to enjoy a short conversation with Mr. Michael Scott in regards to public education along with his wife on more than one ocassion. My condolences to the family of Mr. Scott, may God rest his soul.

Couldn’t you find another photo of the river ? This is a St. Pat’s day pic…. obviously. The river does not flow nuclear green all year long – only one day a year.

Joe- I wondered the same thing… how is it that you can determine it was a suicide within 15 minutes of the body being found? Could this have not been what APPEARED to be a suicide? When has it ever been ruled a suicide before they even have time to investigate all the facts? Is there a possibility that someone wanted him gone?

Pulsamsara- Thanks for clarifying that… I was like WOW, you got some pollution probs or a leaky reactor nearby.

Seems like a funny way to commit suicide. Blow your brains out so that you land in the river? What in the hell is that all about? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of such a thing.

I agree. I’d ask if he was left handed? Only 10% of people are. So the odds are greatly in favor of him being right handed…which would of course NOT result in a wound to the left side of the head.

Suicide…so that you land in the river…hmmmm.

With Chicago being a “non-friendly” city for guns, if he was carrying a gun within City limits, he was breaking the law, was he not?

I am surprised that nobody mentioned the gun at all…( with the sole exception of the caliber… , which was mentioned in the news)

Was it HIS gun? Where did the gun come from?

Nothing but questions following such a sad event….

May the Lord welcome him in peace…
