Veterans Day Closings In 2009 and NYC Parade

With the Veterans Day Parade only a short time away, where it steps off at 11am this morning in New York, on Fifth Avenue, 25th Street. The nation will be honouring its men and women that served in uniform, especially the ones that died serving the country.

It is the 90th annual Veterans Day Parade where 20,000 marchers, 3,000 of which are still on active duty; will parade through the streets which also includes a military flyover and a 21-gun salute.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Governor David Paterson are expected to attend the parade and deliver speeches to the 20,000 plus which also include civic and youth groups. The parade march will finish on 56th Street, and street closures are expected to happen in areas from 8 till 3.
