Health Care Vote Results: House of Representatives approve bill

The new healthcare bill has now been passed by the House of Representatives; this is the biggest health care policy change in forty years. This is seen as a huge victory for President Barack Obama and shows that he still has what it takes to reform America.
According to The New York Times, the vote was very close, 220-215. One Republican even supported the bill, another boost for the Obama administration. The new bill will now allow for almost all Americans to have health cover and no insurance will be able to refuse those who already have an existing condition.
The price tag for this new healthcare bill totals $1 trillion, something that the Republicans are not happy with as the wealthy will be the ones to stump up the extra cash by increasing taxes. As you would expect, the Democrats were very happy when they had their 218th vote recorded.
This will be a huge overhaul of the healthcare system which already totals $2.5 trillion; this is one-sixth of the U.S. economy. Whether it is the right change remains to be seen, do you agree with the new changes?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! THE HOUSE DID NOT WHAT THE MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANTED. THE VOTE IN RECENT POLLS TAKEN IS THAT AMERICAN DID NOT WANT IT TO PASS.
SO NOW A LIST IS BEING CREATED OF THE ONES THAT VOTED YES ON THAT BILL.
THAT LIST WILL BE MASSED EMAILED ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND IT WILL BE REPEATEDLY RE-SENT.
THE MESSAGE THAT WILL ACCOMPANY THAT LIST WILL BE THIS; “VOTE THESE PEOPLE OUT OF OFFICE!”
NO. The government appears to be caught up in winning and rushing into any solution that enables the government to gain control and collect more tax dollars. This rapid change puts health care and our fragile economy at high risk.
If the government believes in the change, then the health care plan should be piloted with the government ONLY at a % of the full budget. The rollout of the pilot test should start immediately, should be mandatory for pilot groups, and should begin with all three branches (white house, congress, and the supreme court) (all parties). The initial pilot should last last for three years. If the health care passes our stress test criteria and remains within scaled budget, the next mandatory group to roll it out would be government all employees for anyother three year pilot.
If the governement believes in it, let them use it. I believe the tax increases should also be limited to the pilot groups. Enjoy.
I believe the House did, narrowly, what the American people wanted. I don’t believe in polls as they can be distorted to agree with the side that is funding the poll. Health care is necessary for all Americans. Also, Darwin Marsh is correct in the fact that a list will be created, however it will be a list of those that voted NO with an accompanying message of “VOTE THESE IDIOTS OUT OFF OFFICE”
Ed, respectfully, you are as out of touch as these politicians are in regard to “what the American people want” and in regard to any fiscal logic whatsoever. How you and these short-sighted politician’s can actually think that having a universal healthcare system this isn’t going to affect EVERY single American in such profound ways in regard to their health and financially is beyond me. Who balances YOUR checkbook, your wife. We know Congress has never had to balance theirs.
It is typically people with very little understanding of economics or fiscal responsibility that buy into this utopian idea of universal healthcare, not fully understanding the trickle-down effect it is going to have. Take for instance small businesses with, oh let’s say a million dollar payroll. Under this new legislation these small businesses (big businesses already get tax breaks from the government – you’re already paying for them), will have to pay an 8% fine on their total payroll ($80,000, just in case your wife isn’t around to do the math for you). This will run a lot of small businesses out of business OR (and here is where it is going to effect you and EVERY American) they are going to have to raise their rates to compensate for the TAX/FINE (whatever YOU would like to call it). And guess what, you are going to be paying more for EVERYTHING! Don’t believe me, just wait. It is simple economics buddy, and fiscally irresponsible people like you who vote with their “gut” and not their head are ruining this great country with all of this reckless spending. I won’t even get into the health care rationing part of the equation. Welcome to the USSA!
I don’t think the politicians in Washington CARE what the people (voters) want, EXCEPT at election time. What has been evolving politically since the early 20th century is “Government OF the people, Constitution be damned.”
As to a list of those who voted FOR the bill, it would be wise not to disregard many of those who voted AGAINST the bill, without knowing all the details.
What we are seeing now is how government works without any form of checks and balances, and when the voters are kept from having their voices heard, and blatantly ignored, or diminished in various ways, such as ignorant, racist, etc.
Freedom is taken for granted by most Americans today as they don’t have any knowledge of the effort and cost in lives that is required to gain it. If left alone, it will be many generations later that much blood will be required for any people to once again become free, assuming such will ever again become possible.
I’m with S Rose on this, but hey S… you will never get through to people like Ed. There are two kinds of people in this world. Those that know it’s going to hurt if they step in front of a moving bus and then there is Ed and his kind. These people need to let the bus hit them before they ‘get it’.
Some very good points but as always, there must be peer-reviewed scientific studies to back up any statements.
