Glittering fireworks set to the music of Abba and Queen will be the star of the show at Groombridge Place on Saturday 8th November at its bonfire night celebration, which is always one of the most popular in the South East.
Half a tonne of fireworks will be lit to provide a spectacular display and light up the night sky with over a million stars. The twenty two minute extravaganza will include many new fireworks and will end with a grand finale choreographed to Queen’s toe-tapping sing-along favourite ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’.
“Our firework event is hugely popular and we always put on some extra entertainment to keep people amused before and after the display,” said organiser Jill Todd. “Each year we have a different theme and this time we have chosen to set it to music from the legendary Queen and Abba, which I am sure will be great fun.”
To keep visitors entertained before and after the fireworks there will be a mini traditional Victorian funfair with a merry-go-round with horses galloping to music from a fairground organ, old-fashioned dodgems, children’s carousel and fairground games as well as stalls selling candyfloss, sweets, hot dogs, mulled wine, soup and other treats.
The Victorian funfair will open from 5.30pm until 10.00pm and the firework display starts from 7.30pm. There will be a ceremonial lighting of the bonfire just before the firework display starts, setting the scene for the spectacular show. Gates open at 5.30pm and tickets are £9.95 adults, £8.45 children and seniors and under three’s go free. There is an early bird discount of five tickets for the price of four if bought by 25th October. Tickets can be booked by calling 01892 861444, online at www.groombridge.co.uk or at the gate on the day.
