St Edmund’s School wear pink for Breast Cancer Campaign

October 21st, 2008 · No Comments · Email This

Pupils from Baker House at St Edmund’s School Canterbury swapped their navy blue uniforms for a variety of striking pink clothes to raise money for charity.

Their casual clothes day was in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign’s Wear It Pink fundraising initiative. Each pupil in the house donated £2 and dug out a pink item from their wardrobe – some even wearing pink from head-to-toe.

Combined with the proceeds from a cake sale, the day raised over £170 towards the October campaign, timed to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Mike Brewer, Baker Housemaster, said: “The idea came from Grace Gale in Middle Fifth who had done some previous fundraising for the charity, while the events themselves were co-ordinated by House Captain Grace Johnson in Upper Sixth. We are so proud of these efforts by everyone in the House.”

Baker House is one of four houses that senior school pupils are divided into in order to ensure day and boarding pupils are fully integrated and pastoral care is available to all.
