James Pilcher, Chairman of Caxtons, the Kent based firm of Chartered Surveyors, was delighted to be invited into the Larkfield FC under 10s line up following receipt of the new seasons strip – which Caxtons has sponsored.
The boys are incredibly enthusiastic, dedicated and serious about their sport. They play in the Invicta League with matches across Kent as well as participating in 7 or 8 tournaments, which gets hundreds of mums and dads involved - whether cheering from the sidelines, acting as chauffeurs, tending to the wounds as medics or helping the coach with tactics!
Coach and Manager Steve Brunell was thrilled that Caxtons agreed to sponsor the team and said “Without the support of local firms we would find it difficult to provide new kit for the team, so are extremely grateful to Caxtons. These boys represent the grass roots of the game – often they join us in the Under 7s team when they are little more than toddlers and many are still with us as they grow and end up playing in the Under 18s – they love the game so much!”
James said “It was really good fun going along to hand over the kit to the boys - and the shirts looked great. I turned up dressed for the occasion in my tracksuit, all ready to take part in a training session however, in the end I decided to leave them to it – it was serious competitive stuff! I did however, wish them very good luck for the coming season.”
The boys’ first game of the season and the first outing for the new kit was an away match against Bredhurst Village on Sunday 14th when they won the first game 0 - 1 and lost the second 1 – 0. Steve Brunell said: “Overall the boys played reasonably well but they have performed better, although as a first game away from home on a difficult pitch this was a good result.” Caxtons will be supporting the boys throughout the season and can’t wait to see them achieving great things as they take on other teams from around the County.
