St Edmund’s School Canterbury: Best A Level results ever

Staff and pupils at St Edmund’s School Canterbury are celebrating the best A Level results ever, with half the candidates achieving at least two A grades.
Sixteen pupils achieved straight As in three or more subjects with another twelve gaining two A grades.
“Whatever statistic you choose to use, these results were the best A Level results we have had,” said headmaster Jeremy Gladwin. “These super results represent not only a significant achievement for our pupils but also reflect the commitment and dedication of the teachers.”
“This year we had 58 candidates and we are proud of each and every one of them. Ninety per cent of the A-Level candidates gained three or more grades A-C. Also, Oliver Jones received an accolade from the AQA for achieving one of the top five marks in Drama and Theatre Studies out of 5088 candidates. These results mean that our pupils will read their chosen courses at prestigious universities.”
Each year up to 45% of school leavers take up places at Oxbridge and Russell Group or equivalent ‘selecting’ universities (such as Durham and York). The school is renowned for its Music and Art. This year, one pupil who was offered four scholarships from the leading music academies, an outstanding achievement, will join another pupil at the Royal Academy of Music. Two of the Oxbridge successes are also to read Music. Other successes this year include our first pupil at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and ten artists will start foundation courses locally leading to Art degrees.
