Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK
The thriving fund-raising tradition of Kent based Chartered Surveyors Caxtons was extended on Saturday (19 July) when Emma Catterall, a property manager in the company’s block management department of their Kent Thameside offices, Gravesend, took part in the Race for Life.

The women-only 5km race, which took place in Regent’s Park, London was in aid of Cancer Research UK and was blessed with sunshine all the way.

Emma completed the race in 47 minutes - twenty minutes faster than her time last year. “It was good fun and we were very lucky with the weather. It’s so exciting when you’re standing there on the starting line with all the others, everyone focused on wanting to raise money for such a good cause. I’ll definitely enter again next year.” This year Emma raised £125 and hopes to increase the sum next year and run the 5km in an improved time as well!

While admitting that she hated training and was not a regular runner, Emma said she wanted to continue taking part in the race because both her family and friends had been touched by cancer.

“My Dad has had cancer and thankfully has recovered now but sadly my partner’s Mum died of cancer last year, so I have great motivation to want to raise money for such a worthwhile cause, as have so many people these days. If I can help in some small way I am very happy to do so.”
