Millions of pounds worth of sleek, gleaming Ferraris and over 20 hot air balloons will be at Groombridge Place, near Tunbridge Wells, on Sunday 3rd August for one of the most exciting events in the attraction’s calendar.
Visitors will be able to take a close look at some of the most iconic cars in the world – and maybe sit in a few – as well as meet their owners.
For those who like a taste of the action, there will be a Ferrari 355 four-seater racing challenge driving simulator, as used by Damon Hill, The Stig from Top Gear and others.
“This is one of the most popular events in the motoring calendar and an unrivalled opportunity to see so many expensive Ferraris in one place,” said events organiser Jill Todd.
The glamorous lifestyle continues with over 20 hot air balloons. During the afternoon pilots will explain how they are inflated and flown and in the evening, weather permitting, they will take off, providing a spectacular sight drifting sedately over the magnificent, moated house.
There will be musical entertainment from a Caribbean steel band and the whole event will be compèred by TV presenter Ben Smith. The special event starts at 1pm and the gardens will remain open until 8pm.
Throughout the event all the much loved attractions will be there too, including Adam the zeedonk who is half zebra, half donkey and his friend Peaches the miniature donkey; the challenging Dark Walk obstacle course; giant swings; Romany Camp; hilltop fort and birds of prey flying demonstrations, canal boat rides and much more.
The 17th century formal gardens will be at their peak, with scented roses and honeysuckle, quintessentially English herbaceous borders and perfectly groomed lawns. The Oriental garden will be especially spectacular.
The house and garden featured as Longbourn, the Bennet’s home, in the recent Pride and Prejudice film which starred Keira Knightley, and there is a museum with a collection of photos taken during filming and an exhibition of period costume. There is also a museum dedicated to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who was a regular visitor at the beginning of the last century.
Entrance tickets are £9.95 adults, £7.95 children and seniors and a family ticket to admit two adults and two children is £32.95. For more information visit groombridge.co.uk or call 01892 861444.
