Westbrook House Preparatory School, Folkestone has closed

It has been announced that the Westbrook House Preparatory School in Folkestone has closed. It’s said that Parents received letters telling them that their children’s school has been closed. According to reports the letters, arrived by private courier between 8pm and midnight and said that the Westbrook House Preparatory School, in Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone has shut which has now left more than 100 pupils with no school to go to in September.

Westbrook House Prep School was proud to take its place as one of the finest schools in Kent so what happened?

The school was for children aged between 2 to 11, with the fees costing from £450 a term for two mornings a week in the nursery, to just under £3,000 a term for Year Six pupils, aged 10 and 11.
Its also said that parents also received information packs with there letters about the private Dover College, where places are being promised, also offering a free bus service from Westbrook House to Dover.

Ok fair enough they are trying to come up with a solution but who would want to send their child who is between the age of 2 and 11 on a bus to school I know I wouldn’t.

Do you know what annoys me about this is that they are quick enough to fine us as parents for our children not going to school but they are the ones who are closing down the schools which in turn is leaving children with little options in where they can go.

Are you affected by this and if so what help have you been given to solve this issue?

What has ‘they’ got to do do with the School closing down? For whatever reasons the School was not considered attractive enough by sufficient parents to invest not inconsiderable amounts of money into sending their children there. As a commercial venture it has to sell itself and clearly failed. It won’t be the last small private School to go bust in the next year as the recession bites.
