Unexplained “fireballs” flying over the town of Whitstable

July 17th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Email This

Ok here is a question we may never know the answer to, were the mysterious lights that looked like fireballs from a UFO that was seen flying over Whitstable town and sea on Saturday evening?

It’s said that people came out of pubs and out on to the street to watch the five or six orange globes that seemed to be flying in formation without making any sound. Now I now when you are drinking things can look different but they are sure that it was some kind of space craft.

According to reports as the people gaped at the sky, one of the “fireballs” seemed to break away, head towards earth at speed and then disappear.

Samuel Dobson who is the chef at the Quayside in Harbour Street said that “People were really shocked by it, there was no noise to it and I am really not sure what it could be. Quite a few people seem to have seen them but no one so far has come up with an explanation.”

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence has said that they had not yet received reports of sightings over Whitstable. They said that “The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity. Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported.”

Did you see the strange objects in the sky?

    Hello,

Yes I have seen two of those objects at on Saturday the 13th at 23:18 local time and took a few pictures.

They had a dull orange glow with a brighter spot inside. They seemed to be slightly shaking in the wind and had a distinct parabolic trajectory. They were not going very fast.

IMHO those were some kind of lantern suspended to a kite or balloon. They were not flying in formation as some newspapers have suggested, and they showed none of the high-speed maneuvers of the more credible UFO sightings.

    Hi guys

I just saw a really strange thing driving home from work down Borstall Hill into WHitstable, around 4.40pm today. It looked for all the world like an irregular grid of really bright orange forked lightning above a group of houses near the fire station for a split second, quite wide-spread. The sky was dusk so I had pretty good visibility and it made no sound. There weren’t any storm clouds in the sky and it wasn’t fireworks either. I am completely dumfounded so I’m looking for similar sightings online at the moment… sounds like I might not be alone!

    Caroline
